Hindustani Classical Vocal

Masterful Technique | Deep Tradition | Spiritual Expression

Overview

The 1-Year Diploma in Hindustani Classical Vocals is an in-depth and immersive course designed to train students in the intricate techniques of Indian classical music. This program offers a deep understanding of Hindustani music traditions, focusing on vocal techniques, ragas, talas, and vocal ornamentation (such as meend, gamak, and alankar). Students will learn how to express emotion, improvisation, and musical phrasing through their voice, applying classical methods passed down through generations.

The course emphasizes voice modulation, breath control, posture, and vocal flexibility, preparing students for performances in a classical setting. Students will explore both dhrupad and khayal styles of Hindustani classical music, along with thumri, tappa, and other genres, building both technical expertise and creative interpretation.

Through rigorous practice, performance opportunities, and mentorship, students will also explore the spiritual aspects of Hindustani classical music and how to connect with an audience emotionally through their voice. The program culminates in a recital showcasing each student’s progress.
